This scholarship is for high school seniors who have been involved in 4-H for four years, have shown leadership and personal development, plan to get a college or vocational degree, and have not passed their 19th birthday by January 1, 2017. Scholarship is due to our office by Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Guidelines and application are available here.

Entry forms are due to our office by Wednesday, March 1st. Entry forms and guidelines are available on our website http://bexar-tx.tamu.edu/4h-youth-development/contests/ under the County Fashion Show tab. Fashion Show and Fashion Storyboard are free. Duds to Dazzle is $10 per team (3-5 members).

The Bexar County Dog Squad is a competitive 4-H dog club that focuses on learning all aspects of dog care and training with the emphasis on competing at the State Dog Show in July. All 4-H members with any type of dog are welcome to join. Judging contests are designed for teams of 3 - 4 members in the same age division (Junior – grades 3 - 5, Intermediate (grades 6 - 8, Senior – Grades 9 - 12) to demonstrate their skills in evaluation and observation. Members use the knowledge and skills they have about the subject matter to place the class from best to worst and also develop public speaking skills through learning how to present reasons on why they placed a class as they did. This year, the kids will be learning about Texas Snakes & Reptiles, Birds of Prey from wildlife experts, Tarantulas and Insects, Horticulture, and do some birding with an ornithology expert. We’ll perform experiments with owl pellets, insects, and some microbiology, and get to hold live animals, insects, snakes, reptiles, and get up close and personal with some birds of prey.
