• Add a 3 to 4 inch layer of mulch around shrubs, trees and containerized plants, to aid them in surviving our hot summer. Be careful not to pile mulch around the bark of the plant, though.
• Look for powdery mildew and black spot on crape myrtles, roses & euonmymus. Use Immunex, Funginex, Fung Away or Safer Garden Fungicide. Read label carefully before applying.
• Plant poinciana (Pride of Barbados) in full sun now for stunning orange blossoms during the hottest part of summer.
• Cut spent amaryllis and daylily blooms so that they do not form fruit.
