Information: One Club Manager from each club is requested to attend one training. Clubs must charter every year. Everything you will need to start the new 4-H year (Sept. 2018 – Aug. 2019) will be available at this training. Extension Program Specialist Molly Keck will be hosting the 9th annual summer camp for junior entomologists! Camp will be indoors with collecting & activities outdoors. Check the Entomology Youth Programs page for details and associated costs. This camp is geared toward youth ages 7-12. Register online as soon as possible if you are interested in attending; space is limited and these camps fill quickly.

Information: The purpose of the tour is to provide youth commercial agriculture opportunities both academically and through career exploration. 4-H members (ages 15 - 18) that have a strong interest in production agriculture will enjoy this tour to various agriculture industries in south Texas. July 25-27 (Wednesday, 12 Noon- 5 PM; Thursday, 9 AM - 5 PM, and Friday, 9 AM - Noon)- Come join us for the 2018 Junior Master Gardener (JMG) Adult Leader Training designed for teachers, educators, and volunteers in support of Youth Gardening. Participants will learn how to establish and sustain a youth garden, how to create a JMG program, receive training in the JMG curriculum, and obtain Continuing Professional Education Hours for the three-day training. The Bexar, Caldwell, and Guadalupe County Extension Offices will host a 2018 Farm Bill Seed Cotton/Base Acres Decision Workshop at the Guadalupe County Office (210 E. Live Oak Street in Seguin). The workshop will be held on Monday, July 30, from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and will cover new language in the 2018 Farm Bill dealing with generic acres and cotton production which will require producers to make new choices for each tract with an FSA number by late summer. Mark your calendars for the Backyard Basics Expo! This event will be held at the San Antonio Garden Center (3310 N. New Braunfels, San Antonio) from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. This year's Expo will feature educational sessions covering topics such as backyard chickens, making jerky, cuts of beef, growing fruit trees, drip irrigation, vegetable gardening, beekeeping and pollinators, and making salsa!
