Everyone is welcome to participate at the District Fashion Show contests on Friday, May 5th at the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, 1800 North Llano, Fredericksburg, Tx. 78624. Parents, legal guardians, and/or chaperones attending this event will be responsible for youth and must remain on-site through the duration of the District Fashion Show.

Dog show will be held on July 7-9 in Belton, Texas. The dog show is open to all 4-H members who have validated their dog on 4-H CONNECT. The Dog Show and Project is a great way for any 4-H member having a dog at home to participate in a 4-H project and gain skills in responsibility, caring, and leadership to name a few. Beef Cattle Herd Rebuilding Workshop, 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Mark Luensmann Ranch (115679 FM 775, LaVernia). Cost is $20. RSVP by Tuesday, May 9. Includes 2 CEUs. Topics to be covered include beef cattle selection, economic value of management practices, herd rebuilding decision tool, projected replacement cattle values, chute side demonstration, and brush management control options and proper timing. Participation in workshop will require attendees to bring 3-5 docile cows that have been exposed to a bull over 90 days and possibly one cow that is open. Participants may attend the 2017 Multi-County Reproduction Management Workshop on May 16 OR May 17, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Workshop organizers are looking for three producers to participate each day from each of the participating counties (Atascosa, Wilson, Frio, Medina, and Bexar). RSVPs are due by May 5; space is limited, so sign up early! Cost is $15.
The District Horse Show is scheduled for June 13 - 14, 2016 at the Uvalde County Fairplex - 215 Veterans Ln., Uvalde, Tx. Registration will be available from May 2nd - May 19th on 4-H Connect. Leadership Lab will be held June 19th – 21st for 4-H members ages 13-18 at the Texas 4-H Center in Brownwood. The Bexar County Dog Squad is a competitive 4-H dog club that focuses on learning all aspects of dog care and training with the emphasis on competing at the State Dog Show in July.
