Extension Educationin Bexar County

These workshops are open to all 4-H ages and are a learning series to help youth meet their required learning lessons in the veterinary science project.  Some lessons will be in a classroom, but several lessons will be hands on. Mark your calendar for  Tuesday, November 15th at 5:30 p.m. at the Hooves & Paws Vet Clinic, 16060-1 Bandera Rd. Do you want to go to college???? Learn how to earn scholarships through 4-H by attending this training on Monday, Nov. 15th at the 4-H Office, 6:30 p.m.  Members and adults are welcome to attend.  For more information click here.

Sam will be available to help you complete your major show entry forms on Wednesday, Nov. 16th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at our office in S-208.  Please call Pam to schedule an appointment time.  Entry forms for all the major shows and a summary sheet will be available if you need one.  All emtries (San Antonio, Houston, San Angelo & Rodeo Austin) entry forms and fees are due to our office by Friday, Nov. 18th.

San Antonio Stock Show entry form is due to our office by Friday, Nov. 18th.   San Antonio Stock Show rules and guidelines are available at www.sarodeo.com.      San Antonio Stock Show and Judging  entry forms are available here and Major Show  Summary Sheet is  available in our office.  If you will be competing in any judging contests (Consumer, Livestock, Horse, etc.), that entry form and fee are also due to our office by Friday, Nov. 18th.    Open Show entries will not be handled through our office.  

Hill Country Junior Livestock Show has  opened up to include Bexar County.   At this time Bexar County exhibitors can only show a Registered Breeding Swine or Non-Pedigreed Breeding Swine or Registered Breeding Sheep.  Show dates are Jan. 15th – 20th. The BCJLS will award twelve (12) $500 scholarships to graduating seniors at the 2017 Auction of Champions on Saturday, Jan. 7th, 2017.  For guidelines and application visit the shows website at http://www.bcjls.com/scholarship.htm click on Scholarship Application Form.  Application is due to the stock show office by Wednesday, Nov. 23rd.  

If you are 13 and older, you may be interested in becoming a School Tour Guide.  Guides will tour small children around the stock show grounds during the San Antonio Stock Show in February.  Guide names are due to our office by Friday, Nov. 25th.   School Tour dates are tentative Feb. 13, 14, 15, 16 &  17.  Members must be enrolled in a Bexar County 4-H Club and be academically eligible to participate.  Contact your Club Manager if you are interested in participating in school tours.
