September 28 (Friday) will be Second Steps in Beekeeping, 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., at Rudy's BBQ Doc Holiday Banquet Room (location subject to change) in Leon Springs (24059 Old Fredericksburg Road). This class is for those who have already attended the Beekeeping Basics program and are ready for some more in-depth information. Cost is $40 (includes lunch) and online registration is required.

Join us for a 4-H Walk Across Texas Kick Off on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the Helotes Activity Center, 10:00-11:30 a.m. There will be various stations conducting fun physical activities including a Jump Rope-a-thon, Limbo Mania, Frisbee Fun, Volleyball Blanket, and an obstacle course. Stop by for a healthy snack and try a delicious smoothie! Health-related exhibitors will also be onsite. There is a FREE event; please RSVP by September 21 to Frances Moreno-Elizondo.
September 29 (Saturday) will be a "Fall is for Planting!" presentation, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon, given by David Rodriguez, County Extension Agent-Horticulture. The presentation will be given at Rainbow Gardens (8516 Bandera Road, San Antonio). Learn about fall lawn care as well as tips on fall vegetable gardening and getting the jump on spring with recommended planting tips for trees and shrubs. Bring your questions! This is a FREE seminar.
Information: This entomology practice is a fantastic opportunity for young naturalists to explore the vast world of insects and related arthropods. October 6 (Saturday) will be a Fall Vegetable Seminar, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon, at Fanick's Garden Center and Nursery (1025 Holmgreen Road, San Antonio). David Rodriguez, County Extension Agent-Horticulture, will show you how to properly plant, grow, and harvest your vegetables. David has a ton of experience in gardening and would love to share his knowledge and passion of vegetables with you. This seminar is FREE.

October 11 (Thursday) will be a Tree Management Workshop, 8:30 a.m. - 4;30 p.m., at the San Antonio Botanical Garden (Classrooms A & B in the Culinary Garden), 555 Funston Place. Learn to maintain tree health and to identify and manage tree diseases and common insect pests. A root collar excavation and tree injection demonstration will also be provided.
