October 20 (Friday) – Agricultural Chemical Collection Event will be held at the Wilson County Precinct #1 Yard (142 FM 536) in Floresville to dispose of old, outdated, unusable ag chemicals free of charge and in complete confidentiality; completion of an inventory form is highly encouraged.
October 25 (Wednesday) – WebEx CEU Conference will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. with the Bexar County AgriLife Extension Office serving as a host site. Topics will include updates on pesticide laws and regulations, zika, livestock pests, minimizing drift, and pesticide use. The program will offer 2 hours in L&R, 2 in IPM, and 1 in Drift; cost is $30/participant and includes a catered lunch. RSVP with Denise at 210/631-0400.
October 31 (Tuesday) – Session #3 of the South Region Landowners Series, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, at Chris Janschke Enterprises (1150 Bruce Road, Poteet, Texas), will be conducted with the topic being forage and pasture management; cost is $15/class or $30/series for individuals and $25/class or $50/series for couples. The South Region Landowner Series includes one more session to be held on November 14.
November 2 (Thursday) – Insecta Fiesta will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the San Antonio Garden Center (3310 N. New Braunfels) — An evening of entomophagy! We will incorporate insects into the four-course meal with optional pairing. Learn how insects can also be a sustainable source of agriculture and protein! Food prepared by Bombay Salsa Company and San Antonio Botanical Garden Chefs. Expect a dessert provided by a celebrity chef as well! Should you choose the pairing option, expect a specialty cocktail developed just for our event by a bartender specialist, beer from Blue Star Brewing Company and either a sparkling pilsner or local sweet wine. Don’t let the bug dinner scare you–food will be excellent and you may not even realize there are insects on the menu!
