COUNTY EXTENSION AGENT – HORTICULTURE
TEXAS COOPERATIVE EXTENSION
JULY 10, 2004
- Continue to prune fall blooming perennials through August. Chrysanthemums, Mexican Bush Sage, Copper Canyon daisies, autumn asters and Cigar Plant (cuphea) will benefit from a light pruning at this time. (Remove top growth of 4-6″).
- There is still time to set out another planting of annuals such as marigolds, zinnias and periwinkles. They will require extra attention for the first few weeks, but should reward you with color during late September, October and November.
- Establish a new compost pile to accommodate the upcoming fall leaf accumulation.
