GARDENING CALENDAR
TEXAS AGRILIFE EXTENSION SERVICE
BEXAR COUNTY BY DAVID RODRIGUEZ
January 16, 2010
Continue to water and fertilize cool-weather annuals such as Cyclamen, Flowering Tobacco, Ornamental Cabbage, Pansies, Snapdragons, Stocks and Violas to encourage optimal growth and blooms.
Now is an excellent time to transplant mature or established trees and shrubs while they are dormant. Keep as much of its root system in tacked.
Select and purchase gladiolus corms early while the selection is best for February/March planting. Consider multiple plantings every second week to have a prolonged flowering period.
Don’t fertilize newly set out trees or shrubs until after they have started to grow, and then only very lightly the first year.
