GARDENING CALENDAR

TEXAS AGRILIFE EXTENSION SERVICE

BEXAR COUNTY BY DAVID RODRIGUEZ

January 1, 2011

Here are the 2011 Earth-Kind New Year’s Gardening Resolutions:

Make every drop of water count by planting native and well-adapted plant species, as well as utilizing mulches and compost.

Reduce the amount of fertilizer and pesticides used in the landscape and always follow label instructions for application rates and timings.

Plant trees for energy conservation; the proper placement of a tree may drastically reduce energy consumption during the summer and winter months.

Reduce landscape wastes from entering landfills through composting.

Take the Earth-Kind™ challenge at http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/earthkind/ and learn how Earth-Kind™ your landscape is.
