Local independent nursery owner/managers have recently returned from their state convention. Keep a good eye on some great end of summer clearance specials.

Migrating hummingbirds will be busy at feeders and blooming perennials such as firebush, salvia and firespike.

If you are late in getting your fall tomato transplants in the ground, look for large well defined one gallon container transplants.

If leaves on older established trees are turning brown and dropping, it is in response to the prolonged heat and dry weather. Most gardeners have been supplemental deep watering about an inch to two inches at the trees drip line once a month since last September.
