TEXAS COOPERATIVE EXTENSION

AUGUST 14, 2004

  • Time to divide spring flowering plants such as iris, Shasta daisy, gaillardia, cannas, and daylilies. Groundcovers such as lirope, mondo grass and ajuga may also be divided now.
  • Prepare seed beds for later planting of wildflowers. Locate your bed in full sun and remove all grass that will compete with the wildflowers.
  • Fertilize Caladiums with 21-0-0 at a rate of 1/3 -1/2 pound per 100 square feet and water thoroughly. This will keep the foliage healthy for a longer time.
