Fall is an ideal time to plant in South Central Texas because our cooler night temperatures and better rain chances promoter faster root and plant growth. Join David Rodriguez, Horticulturist with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service at our Earth-Kind seminar and learn what you can do in your specific landscape this fall. David will show you how to correctly select, properly plant and efficiently maintain blooms for winter color. Bring plenty of questions and a notebook.
Earth-Kind combines organic and traditional principles that help homeowners create lush yet environmentally safe gardens and landscapes. They are research-proven techniques that are successful and preserve and protect the environment. Techniques include using composting to improve existing soil conditions, proper mowing, effective irrigation methods that conserve water and using plant materials that are less susceptible to insects and diseases, Perez said. Topics include an Earth-Kind overview, Earth-Kind roses, improving existing soils, Earth-Kind turf management, selecting plants for South Texas, disease and insect management, and a question and answer session.
