  • This is a great time to garden with spring; blooming bulbs, winter vegetables and annuals, new lawns to be planted, and lots of other things.
  • Tulips, daffodils, crocus, hyacinths, and many more can be planted now. Even though you can plant these spring blooming bulbs any time during September, October, and even early November. Make your selection early since the nurseries have their best selection at the beginning of the season.
  • This is the best time to plant bluebonnet seeds. Plant the seeds now, so that the young plants can over winter as a rosette plant and bloom next spring. Look for ‘Alamo Fire’. That is a great new Aggie selection.
  • Now is a good time to plant strawberries. Buy them locally, because not all varieties will grow well in Texas.
  • Winterize your lawn and landscape plants now. Consider using an organic granulated fertilizer such as a 6-2-4 or 4-2-3 analysis. This is a good formulation now for your lawn, trees, shrubs and vegetables. Also, use green sand to help with long term greening.
