Start planting the first wave of mid-size fruiting tomato varieties with heat tolerance for the fall harvest. Tycoon, Sunpride, Heatwave Select and Celebrity are all proven producers.

The newest Texas Superstar release is the Turk’s cap, ‘Pam Puryear’ which has wonderful pink blossoms in the shade or full sun. And it’s a first-class plant for attracting hummingbirds.

Prune out dead or diseased wood from trees and shrubs. Hold off on major pruning from now until midwinter. Severe pruning now will only stimulate tender new growth prior to frost.

To water your lawn efficiently, you need to provide the right amount of water. It must be evenly distributed in the right places, and at the right time.
