GARDENING CALENDAR
TEXAS AGRILIFE EXTENSION SERVICE
BEXAR COUNTY BY DAVID RODRIGUEZ
January 9, 2010
Place houseplants in the brightest light in the house, usually a south-facing window.
Water houseplants only when needed by using your index finger to test the soil moisture. Dry, warm air inside the house causes houseplants to use more water than you might think.
Protect young and tender citrus trees from freeze damage. If temperatures are expected in the mid-20’s or lower, cover with old blankets or N-Sulate as well as mulch tree trunks. Supplement heat from a utility light or Christmas lights may also be needed.
Water the lawn and landscape thoroughly once this month if rainfall does not exceed 2 to 3 inches for the month.
