GARDENING CALENDAR

TEXAS COOPERATIVE EXTENSION

BEXAR COUNTY BY DAVID RODRIGUEZ

  • Besides that gorgeous indoor plant, consider giving gardening tools, statuary, specialty books or something uniquely different as that wonderful seasonal gardening gift idea for that gardener or want to be gardener in your life.
  • There is plenty of time to still plant healthy transplants of ‘Coho’ spinach. This area is a premier fresh spinach production area in North America. The tasty green is one of the most nutritious vegetables available. It can be easily be grown in containers or the ground.
  • If tomatoes are sized up and or showing a light green color at the top connection, pick them and bring them into the house. They’ll ripen on the counter and or physiologically the same as one that is ripened on the vine.
  • To accelerate growth and higher production of your winter vegetables crops such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, Brussels sprouts, onions and others, side-dress plants every 10-14 days to 14-21 days with a high slow release nitrogen fertilizer consisting of a 19-5-9 analysis, at a rate of one half cup per 10 linear row feet, and watered in thoroughly.
