March 24 (Saturday) – The 2018 Spring Youth Educator Training will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens (555 Funston Place, San Antonio). Cost is $20, which includes lunch, and registration is online; registration deadline is Friday, March 16. April 5 (Thursday) – An Estate Planning Workshop will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Rudy’s BBQ (24152 West IH 10, Leon Springs, TX). Program topics will include “Why is Estate Planning Important? What You Need to Know” and “Trusts, Business Entities, and Tax Issues”. Cost of the program is $10 and includes lunch. April 13 (Friday) – A Beekeeping Basics program will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., at the Bexar County Extension Office (3355 Cherry Ridge, Suite 208). This program is meant for first-time beekeepers or those with very limited experience and is presented by experienced beekeepers and entomologists. During this course, we will cover the basics of bees and beekeeping, including bee biology, beekeeping equipment and tools, space and time requirements, and beekeeping for tax exemption. A hands-on field day to a beekeeper’s yard will be held April 14 or 15 (two dates from which you can choose to participate). Cost is $65 and online registration is required.
April 17 (Tuesday) – Don’t miss the 2018 Ag Symposium — “Putting $ Back in Your Pocket” to be held 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at the Bexar County Extension Office. This program will be conducted via distance technology and will include several ag-related topics. 2 CEUs (1 IPM & 1 General) will be provided. Cost is $15; RSVP with Denise at 210/631-0400.
April 28 (Saturday) – “A Taste of Fiesta” workshop will be conducted from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, at the Bexar County Extension Office (3355 Cherry Ridge, Suite 208). Learn about the different types of peppers and tomatoes and make your own homemade salsa to take home! Cost is $20; RSVP by April 25.
