The Texas 4-H Ambassador program strives to provide high school age 4-H members (14 – 18 years) the opportunity to develop and practice advanced leadership skills related to mentoring other youth, and to become advocates for animals.
The Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador Program
Through an application process, 50 youth are chosen to participate in rigorous college-level animal science curriculum. Ambassadors conduct educational livestock project clinics, speak to civic groups, assist with livestock shows, and advocate for livestock and agriculture across Texas.
The Texas 4-H Equine Ambassador Program
Through a selection process, 25 youth are chosen to attend a general health knowledge and horsemanship short course is helping create a new generation of equine industry professionals. Equine Ambassadors are prepared to teach other youth and adults the skills of being good stewards, producers, and exhibitors of horses.
Criteria:
-Senior age (14-18) 4-H youth that have exhibited a superior level of ambition regarding his/her livestock
projects
-Students with a profound interest in animal science and animal production
-Students have shown advanced leadership qualities and a willingness to help others
-Top 25% class rank
