Second Steps in Beekeeping

September 27, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$40

If you have attended the Beekeeping Basics program or already have bees and are ready for some more in depth information, this course will cover those needs! We will discuss the next steps in beekeeping once you have installed your bees, but still don’t have all the answers.  This course is very much a “What’s Next?” course.

Topics to include:

  • Winterizing your Bees
  • Pests and Diseases of Bees and their Management
  • Mite Management and Monitoring
  • Recognizing Signs of Stress and What to Do
  • Texas Apiary Inspection Service
  • Requeening Your Hive
  • *topics and speakers subject to change

An optional field day will also be offered, just down the road in at Gretchen Bee Ranch.  Estimated field day time 3-5pm – subject to change!  Mark Gretchen will share his knowledge and expertise, answer any questions, allow us to enter a hive or two and watch him do a mite check.  Bee suits and gloves will be provided for those in need.
