If you are interested in learning more about the Consumer Decision Making project, mark your calendar for a mock contest on Saturday, Jan. 21st, from 10 a.m. – 12 noon at the 4-H office (3355 Cherry Ridge, SA, Tx. 78230) in S-208. Learn how to get the “biggest bang for your buck” with this project. Members study and compare relative qualities and prices of a set of items to determine which offers the best value for the money. The Texas 4-H Youth Development Program and the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation is once again pleased to offer to our senior high school 4-H members the opportunity to apply for an Opportunity Scholarship through the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation. If you missed our first deadline in October, here is one more opportunity to be selected to scramble. You must be enrolled in Bexar County 4-H and an active member. Age requirement is 12 but not 18 by Jan. 1st, 2017 and not enrolled beyond your junior year in high school. Entry worksheet is available here. Complete all the pages, page 2 needs a notary signature. Master Wellness Volunteer Training - Receive 40 hours of training (nutrition, dietary guidelines, food safety, food demonstration, healthy lifestyle choices & children's health) in exchange for 40 hours of service. Online registration required. Cost: $75; students - $25 -- lunch provided.

2017 Essay Topic: “How can MP3 (Managed Pollinator Protection Plan) more effectively protect honey bees from pesticide exposure?” Deadline for submission will be Friday, January 27, 2017. The Texas 4-H Youth Development Program will once again host 4-H Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. This event is designed as a citizenship experience for 4-H members of all ages to learn more about the state legislative process, as well as meet their state representative and senator through an office visit. This is not a judged competition; it is simply a time when young people can show off a garment that they have made. The Bexar County Dog Squad is a competitive 4-H dog club that focuses on learning all aspects of dog care and training with the emphasis on competing at the State Dog Show in July. All 4-H members with any type of dog are welcome to join.
