GARDENING CALENDAR
TEXAS AGRILIFE EXTENSION SERVICE
BEXAR COUNTY BY DAVID RODRIGUEZ
November 28, 2009
Visit a Texas certified nursery professional at your favorite independent nursery or garden center for gift plants and other gardening gift ideas, as well as decorating items for your home.
Newly purchased Poinsettias plants should be kept away from cold or hot drafts, but near a bright sunny window. Never let the plants get too dry.
Cut back Asparagus plants to ground level and mulch with two inches of enriched compost.
To accelerate growth and higher production of your winter vegetables crops such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, Brussels sprouts, onions and others, side-dress plants every 14-21 days with a slow release nitrogen fertilizer consisting of a 19-5-9 analysis at a rate of one half cup per 10 linear row feet. Water in thoroughly.
