GARDENING CALENDAR
TEXAS AGRILIFE EXTENSION SERVICE
BEXAR COUNTY BY DAVID RODRIGUEZ
July 2, 2011
Give your patio or most noticeable flower beds a burst of color by dressing them up with purslane, moss rose, ‘Cora’ vinca, lantana, and salvias.
Remove spent crape myrtle flower heads off of manageable sized trees. This process will encourage more blossoms throughout the fall.
Sweet potato vine shoots should be maintained at 30-36″ in length. This thickens up the density of the plant, which in turn shades the developing roots that will be harvested the first part of October.
Hummingbirds will reward you with their antics if you keep plenty of sugar water in feeders for them. Clean and change the water in the feeders weekly.
