Backyard Basics is an initiative that promotes healthy living providing residents of the San Antonio metro area including
Atascosa, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall and Wilson counties information about the benefits of homegrown and homemade foods.
Backyard Basics workshops provides consumers, backyard gardeners, homemakers, educators, and farmers, “do-it-yourself”
learning opportunities such as home canning, live plants and gardening essentials, rainwater harvesting, raising chickens
for home egg production, cooking and food safety basics.
