GARDENING CALENDAR
TEXAS AGRILIFE EXTENSION SERVICE
BEXAR COUNTY BY DAVID RODRIGUEZ
February 27, 2010
Spot apply a broadleaf weed killer containing a 2-4D herbicide only on well maintained and established lawns on warm days to eliminate hard to get rid off henbit, chickweed, dandelions, clover and other non-grassy weeds. Always read, understand, and follow the label instructions.
Looking to add grapes on an arbor, trellis or fence? The two Pierce’s disease resistant varieties adapted to this region include Champanelle and Black Spanish.
For a small ornamental tree, plant Texas or Mexican Redbud.
It’s too early to fertilize lawns; instead, aerate and “top dress” with compost.
