BEXAR COUNTY BY DAVID RODRIGUEZ

For a 4th of July sun-loving summer color landscape scheme, add red spicy ‘compact Jatropha, white Duranta and some blue cape Plumbago.

Running soaker hoses a minimum of four to six hours during allocated watering time frames should be a sufficient amount of supplemental irrigation for flowers, shrubs, trees, or vegetables.

As vegetable beds become vacant, lightly till in and cover with a two inch layer of enriched compost, this will help minimize weeds and the sun from caking the beds.

Remove spent crape myrtle flower heads to encourage more blooming.
