GARDENING CALENDAR
TEXAS COOPERATIVE EXTENSION
BEXAR COUNTY
FEBRUARY 25, 2006
- This is a great time to plant Texas or Mexican Redbud trees; they make a nice, small understory ornamental tree in the landscape.
- Clean up debris in existing flower beds, and mulch all beds with 2-4 inches of mulch.
- Mulch will cut back on watering as well as reduce weeds.
- Consider planting beautiful spring vines such as Carolina Jasmine or Coral Vine.
- Start planting asparagus crowns now; look for the variety, Mary Washington.
- If your garden space is limited, plant up large containers with flowers or vegetables.
- If Ball Moss is becoming a nuisance in your trees, i.e. Live Oaks, spray now with Kocide and again in mid October. Repeat next year if it persists.
