GARDENING CALENDAR
TEXAS AGRILIFE EXTENSION SERVICE
BEXAR COUNTY BY DAVID RODRIGUEZ

Retail Nurserymen have recently attended their massive annual trade show which was hosted locally. Look for innovative products and unusual flora in the coming weeks.
Remove fire-blight-affected branches from Cotoneaster, India Hawthorn, Pear, Photinia and Pyracantha. Sterilize pruners between each cut with 10 to 1 chlorine bleach to water solution. Spray plants to prevent this from reoccurring, when they flower in the spring with agricultural streptomycin sulfate.
If leaves on older established trees are turning brown and dropping, it is in response to the heat and dry weather. Supplemental by deep watering two inches at the trees drip line about once a month.
If you are late in getting your fall tomato transplants in the ground, look for large well defined one gallon container heat setting varieties.
