Next County Council/Adult Leaders meeting is scheduled for  Thursday, May 19th ,  7:00 p.m. at the Helotes Activity Center. The County Council discusses business that affects all of Bexar County 4-H. The Discover Science Method Research Poster contest will allow youth to apply the scientific method to subject matter of interest or that they have learned through 4-H projects. The scientific method is a process for formulating and testing hypotheses through experimentation and research. Scientists use the scientific method to explore relationships in nature. The poster contest gives youth an opportunity to display and demonstrate how they applied the scientific method to research, experiment, and formulate results for their project.  A $1,000 Scholarship will be awarded to 1st place... The District Horse Show is scheduled for June 14 - 15, 2016 at the Uvalde County Fairplex - 215 Veterans Ln., Uvalde, Tx.   Registration will be available from May 2nd - May 20th on 4-H Connect.  Fees are $15 for each class, payable by credit card.  Exhibitor may enter as many classes as they wish.  More information to include classes, map,  guidelines, etc. are available here.

The Bexar County Dog Squad is a competitive 4-H dog club that focuses on learning all aspects of dog care and training with the emphasis on competing at the State Dog Show in July. All 4-H members with any type of dog are welcome to join. The Outdoor Challenge is a contest. Leadership Lab will be held June 22nd – 24th  for 4-H members ages 13-18 at the Texas 4-H Center in Brownwood.   This event provides a variety of leadership, recreation, and project enhancement workshops that participants are challenged to take back to their own county and implement.  District 4-H Council Delegates are encouraged to attend and participate in the District 4-H Council Business Meeting which includes the election of District Officers for the new 2016-2017 4-H year.    Cost is $200 per youth with registration conducted on 4-H... The Texas 4-H Ambassador program strives to provide high school age 4-H members (14 – 18 years) the opportunity to develop and practice advanced leadership skills related to mentoring other youth, and to become advocates for animals. The Piney Woods Conservation Adventure Camp (PWCAC) is designed to educate 4-H youth age 14+ (with 1 year of school remaining) about wildlife and fisheries, and to inspire them to be future leaders for natural resource conservation in Texas.  Camp is scheduled for July 12th – July 15th at Rayburn Country, 2376 Wingate Blvd., Jasper, Tx.  Cost is $300 includes meals and lodging.  Deadline is June 1st.  For more information and a application click here.
