District 10 Horse Show is scheduled for June 14 - 15, 2016 at the Uvalde County Fairplex in Uvalde.
All recordbooks were due to our office on Monday, June 6th, now the books will be judged on Friday, June 17th from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. We will need adult volunteer judges, please contact our office if you can help judge recordbooks.
We are excited to announce the return of the Youth Agricultural Lifetime Leadership Tour for 2016!! This year’s tour will be a 6 day trek (July 24-29) through West Texas. Youth were exposed to different aspects of agriculture which in turn gives them insight into different career opportunities they never knew existed. They will tour different college campuses. Broiler order is due to our office by Monday, June 20th. Please fill out the order form available here. Minimum order per exhibitor/family is 25 chicks, maximum order is 75, in increments of 25 . – New for 2016: each exhibitor MAY order an individual set of birds (up to 75) OR siblings within the same household may order and share a set of birds (up to 75). Cost is $1.25 per chick. Make your check payable to Bexar 4-H Fund.
Instructors are provided by the Texas A&M Univ. Equine Dept. Participants receive instruction on basic, intermediate, and advanced horsemanship skills and maneuvers and have the opportunity to practice them with guided instruction. School is scheduled for June 20 – 21st at the RMB Fairgrounds, Horse Arena, Robstown, Texas. Cost is $45/participant (made payable to Nueces Co. 4-H). Must be an enrolled 4-H member (grade 3 – 12). Come and participate in 3-days of fun learning on gardening, worm composting, ecosystems, plant life, arts and crafts...and much more! Space is limited to the first 15 paid participants.
This training is open to any adult volunteers that would like to start a 4-H club. All 4-H clubs are invited to attend this training on Tuesday, June 21st , 6:30 p.m. at the County Extension office (3355 Cherry Ridge Dr.) in S-208. All charter paperwork will be provided to start the new 4-H year. Club charters will be due to our office by July 8th.
Leadership Lab is scheduled for June 22 - 24, 2016 at the Texas 4-H Center.
Now accepting registrations! We always fill up fast with a long waiting list, so be sure to get registered soon. Campers get the change to learn all about entomology and become junior entomologists. We will perform experiments and activities with insects, get to hold tarantulas, roaches, millipedes and more. Campers will also collect insects and put together an insect collection.
