SUMMARY:Entomology (Bug) Summer Camp!
DESCRIPTION:We are now accepting registrations for the 2016 Entomology Summer Camp.  Flier and registration form are available here.  These camps  fill up quickly\,  so be sure to get your registration in soon! Camp location is at  Hardberger Park – West Entrance (8400 NW Military)  for 3 full days from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Camp 1 – July 13-15  or   Camp 2 – July 20-22.  Snacks will be provided\, but bring a sack lunch. \nIf these dates don’t work for you\, another opportunity for Bug Camp is through NISD Community Ed\, June 27-30 from 9am-12pm at the NISD Community Ed Building at 6400 Bandera AND July 25-28 at Kreuger Elementary\, 9-12.  You can register through them when their summer catalog comes out at www.nisd.net/ace. \nThere are two camps for younger kids ages  4-6 through NISD\, August 1-2 and August 3-4 from 9am-12pm.   Register through www.nisd.net/ace.  If you have any questions at all about any of these camps\, please let me know!  Thank you!  Molly. \n

The White House Student Film Festival is back with a new theme: “The World I Want to Live In.” Through July 15th\, we’ll be taking submissions from K-12 students across the country. Check out WhiteHouse.Gov/FilmFest to learn more about the event and read the official submission guidelines.  Over the past years we’ve received thousands of submissions — truly amazing creations that inspired us film buffs here at the White House.. Students under the age of 14 should have their parent\, guardian\, or teacher assist with submitting. \nIf your project is selected\, you may have a chance to attend the Film Fest right here at the White House. The Official Selections will also be featured across the White House website and social media channels. You can watch several entries from the past two student film festivals for some inspiration. \nRemember\, submissions close on July 15th\, so get filming to be sure that deadline doesn’t sneak up on you!   Show us the future you imagine\, because we’d like to share it with the world. SUMMARY:Texas 4-H Congress
DESCRIPTION:Texas 4-H Congress allows 4-H members to experience the law making process first hand by writing\, submitting\, and then serving as a member of the House of Representatives\, the Senate\, the Press\, or as a Lobbyist. From these roles\, the 4-H members determine the fate of each bill submitted.  4-H members grades 9 – 12 at the time of the event are eligible to participate in this mock legislative session held in Austin at the State Capitol. \nLobbyist for Texas 4-H Congress \nThe responsibility of the Lobbyist group is to identify certain bills and then lobby members of the House and Senate to either pass or defeat the bill. Lobbyist should be knowledgeable about Texas 4-H Congress and the schedule that it follows. Lobbyist members should be prepared to and have the ability to approach other 4-H members and persuade House and Senate members for support. The Lobbyist group will hold a “by invitation only” reception for House and Senate Members\, along with Congress Leadership. \nPress Corp for Texas 4-H Congress \nThe Texas 4-H Congress Press Corps play an extremely important part in the success of the event.  Individuals applying for Press Corps should have strong skills in writing\, word processing\, interviewing\, photography\, and focused on making deadlines. The press corps is responsible for the publishing of a daily newspaper and helping maintaining a web page/electronic communication. \nSubmission of Legislative Bills \nAny 4-H member\, regardless of age or planning on attending Texas 4-H Congress\, may submit a legislative bill for consideration.  Participation in the bill writing exercise allows 4-H members the opportunity to become engaged in the legislative process and the 4-H citizenship project.
