Spring is here and the fever of planting has arisen. So does the confusion of what to plant and were? For trained professional gardening and landscape advise, deal with a Texas Certified Nursery Professional. These individuals are the best in their field and are recertified on a yearly basis. Remember for that little bit extra time of professional help, visit them during the slower part of the weekdays.
When planting young transplants of tomatoes or peppers, make sure they are supported with a large enough cage which is at least 54″ or larger. This will support the top heaviness of the plant, especially when it is full of abundant fruit.
Considering growing tomatoes in containers? Look for a great container tomato called
‘Top Gun.’ They have tasty medium to large size fruit. Ideally, 8-10 hours of sun is preferred and at least a 20″ or larger container with premium potting mix that drains is desired.
Looking to spruce up your patio this spring? How about some tasty citrus in large decorative pots? Try Mexican limes, Improved Myers lemon or some wonderful Satsuma’s. They not only look fabulous, but they taste great too.
Are your kids or grandchildren involved this spring in the gardening experience? If not, do so! One of the greatest nurturing gifts a child can have besides the responsibility of a pet is the joy of growing vegetables or colorful plants. Take the challenge this spring and give the gift of gardening.
