Strengthening Families Program Texas Cooperative Extension's Strengthening Families Program is a 6-week parenting education series designed for parents of school-age children ages 6-12. This research-based educational program was developed to strengthen the relationship between parents and their children and equip parents with the skills they need to effectively raise their children. Researchers have identified several factors that are common to strong families, including effective parent-child communication, problem-solving skills, and a sense of purpose and future. Successful families frequently consider their strengths and weaknesses and take steps to improve their home and family environment. Class topics include: Class 1: Developmental Expectations & Stress Management Classes are taught by trained volunteers. Volunteer training is offered through Texas Cooperative Extension - Bexar County Office.
