Bexar County 4-H Scholarship Information


San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc., Scholarship

Great News! Bexar County 4-H & Youth Development Program has been awarded twelve (12) $16,000 scholarships from the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. Scholarships must be used for a major in Agriculture and Life Sciences that leads to a career in agriculture or agribusiness (see list).

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a member of Bexar County 4-H, must attend a Texas college or university, must comply with the degree plan criteria and be in good standing with the Bexar County 4-H Program. Members who have already received $10,000 or more in scholarships WILL NOT be eligible to apply for this scholarship.

To apply for this scholarship, you must turn in a completed recordbook for the 2007-2008 year, a completed Scholarship Verification Form, a SALE Scholarship Application Form, a copy of your degree plan and SAT/ACT scores all due to our office by 5 p.m., Monday, June 30th. NO LATE RECORDBOOKS AND REQUIRED FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED. The original and three (3) copies of your recordbook are required (original for our office and 3 copies for 3 judges). We do not need additional copies of the Scholarship Verification Form, SALE Scholarship Application Form, degree plan or the SAT/ACT scores. Copies will NOT be made at our office. Interviews will be conducted on Tuesday, July 15. Applicants will receive a letter with their assigned interview times after July 7th. Please do not make us reject your application because it is late. Best advice, turn it in the day before and beat the rush! Don’t forget, we have a night drop in the front door. Put recordbook, copies and forms in a big envelope. Put your name on the envelope, seal it and put it through the slot. You are welcome to call the next day to confirm we received it.

Bexar County Master Gardener Scholarship

This $2,000 scholarship is for financial support to an undergraduate or graduate student at a Texas college or university who is pursuing a degree in Horticultural Sciences, Landscape Design or Turfgrass Management. Deadline is Monday, June 30 to our office.

Peggy Coleman 4-H Horse Leaders Scholarship

The Bexar County 4-H Horse Leaders will give two (2) scholarships (one $500 and one $250) to 2008 graduating seniors. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be an active member of Bexar County 4-H, shown at the BCJLS Horse Show and one Bexar County 4-H Open Qualifying Horse Show, submit an essay giving the background and extracurricular involving equine activities, official high school transcript, two (2) letters of recommendation and a 2007-2008 completed recordbook. All application paperwork must be submitted by Monday, June 30 to the 4-H office. If you need more information, contact Sonija at 467-6575.
