Mission:
To provide comprehensive services for children, families and the elderly with special emphasis on the socially and economically disadvantaged.
History:
The Madonna Neighborhood Center, a United Way Agency, was founded in 1939 by the Sisters of Divine Providence. It serves part of the far West Side of San Antonio and assists
low income children, families and senior citizens by offering a range of social services which include:
- Day Care Programs
- Extended Care Gardendale Elementary
- After School Program
- Summer Recreation Program
- Saturday Morning Program
- Evening Meal
- Senior Citizens
- Emergency Assistance
- Counseling Services
- Thrift Shop
- Recreation Program (sports, arts, gardening)
4-H Partnership
- The Madonna Center seeks to continue active participation in the 4-H Holiday Camp Program, the Expanded Nutrition Program and Summer Enrichment Programs.
- We seek to establish a 4-H club on a long-term basis.
- Madonna Center 4-H members will participate in at least 2 county level contests or events per year.
- Madonna Center 4-H members will take part in at least one community service project per year.
- Each Madonna Center 4-H member will earn a 4-H year pin by completing the Membership Achievement Plan and attending the Bexar County 4-H Awards & Recognition
Program.
