Bexar County 4-H Award Information


Gold Star Award

The Gold Star Award is the highest county achievement award and will be awarded once in a member's 4-H career. To apply the member must be a least 15 years or older as of August 31 of the current year and have completed at least 3 years in 4-H, including the current year. To apply for this award the member must submit a Recordbook in the year he/she is to be considered for the award. For complete eligibility, please check the Awards & Recognition Handbook - Gold Star Award. A Gold Star Award Biographical Sketch Form is also required to be turned in with the completed recordbook. Information on completing the Biographical Sketch Form is also available.

Rural Youth Award

This award is for youth who have shown outstanding leadership in 4-H and the community.
-must be 16 and a high school junior Aug. 31, 07
-active member at least 3 years
-must degree in an agriculture, life science major
-and much more

"I Dare You" Award

This award recognizes youth (ages 15-18) for striving to be their best, leading balanced lives, demonstrating a commitment to discovering and developing their personal best, and making a positive difference in their communities. Through the promise of their character and leadership, they are helping to make the world a better place for all. To apply for this award, you must complete the application. Applications are due to our office by June 30.


Honor Club Award

Clubs have an opportunity to apply for this award by filling out the Texas 4-H Club Standards of Excellence Report form. Clubs that meet 12 of the 15 Standards of Excellence will have their name put on the Honor Club plaque hanging in our office. The form is due to the 4-H office by Monday, June 30th, 5 p.m.

Project Exhibits

Several awards in the Awards and Recognition Handbook list "Project Exhibits - County Level" as one of the criteria items to apply for the award. This year you will have the opportunity to do at least one exhibit (poster board or form board) on your project and display it at any County contest. The project exhibits are not a competition and there is no entry form or fee. It is a chance for you to show off one of your 4-H projects and what you have learned. All you need to do is notify our office if you will need an easel or a table.

Club Scrapbooks

Put all your photos together and get that scrapbook done. Scrapbooks are due by June 30. There will be cash awards for 1st - 3rd placings. Click here for the Scrapbook Guidelines.

Bronze, Silver and Gold Star Awards

These awards are for 4-H’ers 11-18 years old. If you are wanting to apply for these awards, please see your Awards & Recognition Handbook for qualifications. Every family should have a copy of the handbook, if not, visit our website. If you are applying for the Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards, you must complete a recordbook (not a project form). A 4-H Member Recognition Application form must be filled out (checking the award you are applying for) and clipped the outside front of your recordbook. Your club manager must sign off on this form confirming your qualifications. If you are applying for the Gold Star Award, you must also complete and attach a Gold Star Award Biographical Sketch form. If you need a copy of the form, contact Pam or your Club Manager or visit our website. All recordbook forms, 3x5 card, Member Recognition Application and Checksheet are all available in our office. Give Pam a call to help you get the correct needed forms. Recordbooks are due to our office June 30.

Golden Clover Nominations

The Golden Clover is given to an individual or business who has provided exemplary support to the Bexar County 4-H program. We need your help to identify the individual or business who is deserving of this award. Submission deadline will be June 30, the same time recordbooks are due.
