Hoof Trimming Workshop
Now that we have most of the steer and heifer projects
on feed, it’s time to think about hoof trimming. Proper hoof trimming
is necessary to compete in today’s cattle show rings. I will provide
hoof trimming free to any 4-H member in Bexar County. If your beef project
needs hoof trimming, call Joe at 467-6575 to set up an appointment.
I will do the trimming at my house, after 5:30 p.m. during the week
and on weekends with an appointment. (J.T.) To

Rabbit Equipment
Club Managers - I recently was contacted by a rabbit
breeder who was getting out of business and the individual donated some
rabbit cages and feeders to Bexar County 4-H. If you have a first time
feeder and they have limited funding or would like to see if they would
enjoy animal projects, this equipment is available on a first come-first
serve basis for loan until they acquire their own. For information contact:
Rene Mosqueda at 467-6575. To Top

Calf Scramble
 |
It’s time to sign up for the 2001 show calf scrambles.
If you are 12 years old (before Aug. 31, 2000) and not past your
junior year in high school, you are eligible. If selected to scramble,
you attend a rodeo performance and attempt to catch a wild calf.
If you catch a calf, you receive a certificate to purchase a show
heifer (San Antonio-a breeding heifer, sheep or hog) and take it
to that show the following year. REMINDER: You are not eligible
to scramble at a show where you have previously caught a calf. If
interested, fill out the enclosed form and return it to our office
before September 5th. (J.T.) To Top |
